Michael,

Just a brief note to let you know that I still intend to make Hawaii, sometime, perhaps the next so-called Millenium...

Saw an item about the WTO in Seattle--burning Gap jeans in effigy, protesting Starbucks, etc.,  and I thought, I wonder if Michael is there?  (Such futile "resistances" to our "failures to communicate" imposed by the Heavy-Ham-Handeds That Be...)

Item in the paper:  much grief and outpouring over the death of that giant panda that Mao gave Nixon (the mate having died a coupla years back)...Item not in any papers: the Communist Chinese have allegedly murdered (and cremated) the ten year old boy that the Dalai Lama has identified as our Panchen Lama (2nd in spiritual authority to the Dalai)...

Resulatant thought...If only we can get those last remaining Tibetan Buddhist Rinpoches to go about in Giant Panda costume disguises!

(yeah, that's the ticket...)

best,
Tom Noonan
