Since Toby's 1993 single "Should've Been a Cowboy", the Oklahoma native has racked up his share of mainstream success on the radio and in the record stores. Toby scored six #1 country hits. He earned nominations for Grammys, CMAs, and ACM awards. Toby Keith has always taken maverick to his music. Toby has steadfastly set his own place. Toby says his music life is perfect right now.

Toby says he is in the writing mode all the time. He says that he just sits and waits on inspiration. Toby said that if it's slow he will just call some of his great co-writing family and friends. He said that he looks for something that sounds unlike anything on his record. Toby says he sees compromise all the time.
