This was the situation:

My sister Darla Nix, 22 yrs. of age, and my nephew Gabriel (3 1/2) were hit by a car walking home on December 30, 1998.
Gabriel was thrown from her hip and she fell back on the car.
Darla is okay, but had to get stitches and staples in her head
due to a serious gash. Gabriel had been in PICU for about
1 1/2 weeks and was kept in a state of acoma. He really had
no exterior injuries at all, but the MRI showed bruises all over
his brain. He came out of Critical Care finally, and got his own
room at Hermann Hospital in Houston. Well, so many people
have been praying for him and we believe God is healing him.
On 1/12/99, he was discharged and transferred to a Rehab. center.
Shortly thereafter, he came down with a blood infection and is now back at Hermann. As of yet, he does not have total motor movement control back, but is slowly progressing. He is speaking words, but they are only sometimes intelligible. Pray for his sight, as he could not see recently due to blood clotting behind his eyes. Pray for Darla's strength and continual trust in our Heavenly Father to work miracles and to make a way. We give God all the Glory for life and believe in Gabriel's total recovery in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Gabriel is now back at the Rehab Center. He has recovered from the blood infection, praise God. Now, he can move his limbs and all with control, but is not able to fully sit up or stand on his own. Please continue to thank God for his strength to progress and total recovery. He cannot see yet, but the physicians have stated that his eyes are in and of themselves not damaged. The problem lies within his sensory reception and communciation to and from the brain, of which many parts are damaged now. We believe God is restoring his brain, and look forward to when he'll see again soon. Thank God for His faithfulness to us. We appreciate your prayers. Keep remembering my sister, Darla, aslo. She is moving out of her apartment to live with family now so she will be able to take care of Gabriel without having to work for now. And, Jehovah Jireh will provide. *ROMANS 8:28*
February 28, 1999 Update

Well, praise the faithful Name of the Lord and Glory to God in the Highest. Thank you to those who stood in faith with me for this little person's recovery. Gabriel is doing better every day now.. He is walking, talking, and seeing with his eyes! With God, all things are possible to them that believe. Believe that you receive what you ask for by Faith, according to His perfect Will, which--by the way--includes healing, amen.
November 10, 2000 Update

Now, almost two years later, Gabriel, an active 5 year-old, is in kindergarten. He is healthy & well, functioning in most every area at a normal level. He also has a new baby brother, Wesley River Nix (3 1/2 months), whom he loves. By looking at my strong, handsome nephew, you would never be able to tell that he had experienced such trauma and physical debilitation. We continue praising the Lord & giving glory to God our Father for this living miracle we love & know.
