TRANQUIL THOUGHTS
We lie, bodies close
my cheek against your chest.
Smiling, you gently massage my
shoulders,
softly caressing my lips
with your fingertips.
I bask contentedly in the afterglow,
the night air cool and damp.
Thoughts envision tree boughs
reaching up in a modest embrace,
gently kissing the sky.
Crickets chirp softly, the night is
still,
my spirit tranquil.
My mind drifts
to a meandering stream.
I sit along the bank,
feet dangling in the water;
watching the apple blossoms cascade
and float away in timid spirals.
I snuggle closer and slip deeper
into a satisfying wistful sleep.
