Colorless
.
see
how I exist
reflected
in the mirror’s gaze
platinum hair and silver eyes
i know you’re cradled in my arms, but your image falls behind me
caught inside the coils of an alabaster serpent
beautiful
words fall over your translucent lips
reminding me of how I caused your tears to fall
and rinsed your face with dry white wine
Your
hands
chilled
from the winters wind outside, are pallid and cold again
gaunt against my flesh, blue veins traced under bleached skin
when
I tremble at your touch, you sting me with reproach
lacing silver silk sewn with diamonds through my hair
frozen fingers tracing on my neck
knowing
full well that supple rope could be wound across my throat
All
that we are is separated from all that we want to be
by the finger’s breadth of a paned glass wall
we see
with eyes of water, blissfully ignoring the transparent bars around us
if aware of our cage, and not broken by it, are we truly trapped?
even
when living off the salt from each other’s sweat?
in my
dreams we’re transmuting into crystal carvings
sometimes you tell me that maybe we are
It is
said that white light contains the spectrum of every shade
Here
where color pales, everything is clear
