A Richly Presented Sensation

Multimedia brings together, on a computer or any other electronic means, multiple types of media: text, graphic art or illustrations, digital or photographic art, sound, animation, and video.  Any combination of these powerful components, plus the ability of the user to creatively interact with them, is multimedia computing. The power of multimedia is not in its components. Its real promise is that it gives control to the user.  With multimedia users can navigate and explore information for themselves within a rich, multisensory environment
(Vaughan 4).
