CHOICE AND EXPLANATION
35.- Language-Literature :-) This game was devised to create debate. I base my choice on the fact that technology is a derivative of science, as is literature a derivative of language. Science is not a derivative but a branch of epistemology. Derivatives do not interact with their originators as strongly as technology does with science. So much so, that science advances proportionally with the technology it creates, such as electronics, photonics, computerized devices, and innumerable kinds of synthetic polymers and crystals. Analogically, literature influences language; writers of lay, religious and scientific literature have coined new terms, have changed old ones, and have modified the way we express ourselves. The attribute in this analogy appears to be of interaction.
36.- Dictatorship-Repression :-) The choice is based on antithetical parallelism. Repression is the opposite of freedom of expression, and Dictatorship is the opposite of democracy. Dictatorship may assume different forms: autocracy (the rule by one), oligarchy (rule by a few), aristocracy, theocracy, and so on. There are also diverse forms of democracy; what defines it is that most of the people choose the government, subject to their scrutiny.
A Republic is a state headed by a President; it may or not be a democracy, and the Representatives may be selected by biased choice and not by Free election, when they represent the electorate. Free election is intrinsic to democracy; Pluralism thrives in a democracy, where ethnic groups and religious denominations are allowed free expression.
The analogy here is by attribute of function.
