I'm sure most of you know where absolut dada came from, right?    Well, this is for those of you who don't. This was copied from a recent post at dadaland.com where Joie was retorting to the infamous Terminator's dumbass post of the week:

"and you asked about absolut dada? that was absolut vodka who asked me to do that along with 5 other artist including iggy pop and tony bennett.   we all made our version of their ad and they auctioned them off for charity at a nyc party where i spent most of my time getting drunk with tony."

Again, my site's a tribute to all things dada.   Why "absolutdada"?   Well, to be quite frank, I saw it in a Rolling Stone issue back when Christ was a kid and dada was just starting to ease off from the main scene and thought "wow, that fucking rocks!".   I had forgotten about it until I saw the section on dadaland.com that had gone into the history behind it, and I thought, it was a great name for a website, I mean, it had dada, it took a commercial entity and made it artistic.   I had to do it, then.    I've been a fan of these guys since their first album...not for DizzKneeLand, but for Dog.   I actually hated DizzKneeLand because I thought it was “Disneyland”, and I thought, "oh, that's original (heavy sarcasm here, folks)" and never bought the album.

Then once I had Puzzle, I read the lyrics for DizzKneeLand and took in the rest of the album, and it dawned on me that these guys obviously meant a lot more than Disney in their tune.   I kicked myself for not buying it sooner!    Oh well, I've gotten ahold of every album since that one, but it wasn't until the last album, the self-titled 98 release that I found out there was a dadaland.com...that and my high-speed cable connection...with a 28.8 or a 56K connection, I could never get that damned thing to load, which is what a lot of people are having problems with.    I thought it was a dead site (well, technically it is, except for the message board), kind of sad, really.

So now I'm a full fledged dada junkie, I can't do enough with my site, I can't listen to enough dada, I've found my band...my inspiration:)    The vocals have inspired me to try and get a band together...JOie with those great bass licks, Mike with those haunting guitar solos, and Phil on those drums paced just right to make you want to get into it all...oh yeah...  It's all good.
