Politics

The many politics involved in the Civil Rights Movement brought about a generation of legendary orators such as Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. Although in different ways, both advocated freedom for the black race as well as political change for the blacks of the United States. Their persuasive and articulate speeches led many people to cry out for the freedom of the black race of America and to contemplate the injustice they had faced for centuries.

The Civil Rights Movement spurred many political battles that included sit-ins, boycotts, and the integration of schools. These protests were only the beginning of a long struggle for the people of America to become aware of the injustices they faced when trying to become racially equal. One of the main triggers for the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement was the boy boycott started by the indignant Rosa Parks who refused to give up her seat to a white man.

Many black equal rights organizations arose during this period in American history -- some militant, others peaceful. Some of these organizations included the NAACP, the Black Panthers, the Blacks Muslims, CORE (Congress of Racial Equality), and SNCC (Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee) to name a few. These groups spurred much political rallying in the fight for racial equality and were supported by millions of people of different racial calibers.
