Debate

The great debate between W.E.B. Du Bois and Booker T. Washington centered on the kind of education needed by Negroes in the United States at the turn of the century. Whereas Washington stressed the practical vocational education of Blacks, DuBois believed that liberal arts and the humanities should be the main focuses in Black education.
