- Fourteen people, including priests and aristocrats, were burned at the stake as the result of a sensational heresy trial. The group was accused of devil worship, which they denied. But they did admit to several unorthodox beliefs: rejection of the sacraments, rejection of the Gospel miracle stories, and rejection of the material world as evil. It was reported that the "Orleans heretics" did not fear death, and strode laughing into the flames. The practice of burning heretics increased in frequency after this.
