The city's Jews, under suspicion of bringing the Plague, were burned to death.


1513

Christoph Schappeler was appointed preacher at St. Martin's church. He began preaching on social issues.


1522

Sebastian Lotzer joined the evangelical movement.


1525

24 February 1525
The Memmingen peasants submitted to the city council a petition which had been written with the help of Sebastian Lotzer & Christoph Schappeler. The petition became the basis for The Twelve Articles.

6 March 1525
The Twelve Articles were adopted by the Peasants Parliament. This meeting led to the formation of the Christian Union of Upper Swabia.
