- Henry of Lausanne arrived in the city preceded by 2 disciples carrying a cross on an iron-tipped staff. They were bearded, barefoot and wearing tattered clothes. At first Henry was welcomed by the bishop, who soon left for a trip to Rome. Henry proceeded to denounce the local clergy and encourage the people to come to him for repentance. In his sermons he rejected original sin, infant baptism, prayers for the dead, the eucharist, and even the need for church buildings.
