- A group of Lutheran exiles from Carinthia (Austria), under the leadership of Hans Kleinsasser, moved to this village about 70 miles east of Alwinz. They established a Hutterite Bruderhof patterned after the old communal model.

- The Hutterite congregation of 67 persons, after resisting pressure to convert to Catholicism, packed up and walked out of town in broad daylight. Their destination was Wallachia in southern Romania. They eventually settled in the town of Krahbach.
