Matthias Hofer, one of the Lutheran refugees from Carinthia (Austria) who had adopted the Hutterite faith, was imprisoned here. He remained locked up for the next 16 years. (See December 1772 below.)

21 December 1772
Matthias Hofer was released from prison, as were all the other Hutterite prisoners in the cities of Transylvania. These men soon made their way to Wischenka in the Ukraine where they rejoined their brothers and sisters.
