1558 9 January 1558 Hutterite missionary Hans Schmidt & his congregation of 11 souls, including a baby in its cradle, were raided by the authorities and taken away. The men were tortured on the rack, then suspended by their arms with iron weights attached to their feet. The women were flogged and exiled.

Hans Schmidt & 4 Hutterite colleagues, who had been imprisoned since January, were strangled and burned at the stake.
