Spring' g'schwind zum Gott, du Sündenschwein!
Gibt's Zeit noch bis dem Sterben.
Du weißt -- obschon dein G'hirn ist klein --
Wer tut's nicht, wird verderben!

Hier ist der alte Psalter-Text,
Der läßt uns nicht alleine.
Damit dein Tugend ständig wächst,
Lies ihn und wäsch die Beine.

Vom Himmel hoch fällt Schnee; die Welt
Schläft ein in süßer Ruhe.
Geh, nimm dein irdisches Entgelt,
Und auch dasselbe tue.

English Translation:

To a sinful tax collector

Jump quick to God, you sinful pig!
There's still some time before death.
You know -- although your brain is small --
Who doesn't do this, will perish!

Here is the old psalter book,
That shall not leave us alone.
For your virtue to grow all the time,
Read it and wash your legs.

From heaven high falls the snow; the world
Goes to sleep in sweet repose.
Go, take your earthly reward,
And then do the same thing.
