I've always been an avid reader, let's just get that out of the way. As I've gotten older (notice I didn't say "matured"), I've gained an even greater appreciation for the written word. In it lies power, power in the form of knowledge. True power isn't in brute force, but in the control that the educated can exert over the uneducated. The following are a list of books that I absolutely loved and highly recommend.
Woman Hollering Creekwritten by Sandra Cisneros
Fear and Trembling written by Soren Kierkegaard
(Warning: Only for those willing to HONESTLY delve into philosophical thought patterns and arguments, otherwise, it'd just be a confusing waste of your time.)
Ishmael written by Daniel Quinn
The Unbearable Lightness of Being (author forthcoming, I can't remember EVERYTHING!)
Beloved written by Toni Morrison
(No, don't see the damned movie instead. Read the book.)
Pillars of the Earth written by Ken Follet
The Complete Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy written by Douglas Addams
(Yeah, so maybe I'm a nerd.)
Wouldn't Take Nothing for my Journey Now written by Maya Angelou
(This woman is just phenomenal.)
The Talisman written by Stephen King as Peter Straub
(Now, get ahold of yourself. I'm not claiming the man is a paragon of literature. I'm merely saying this is a book I enjoyed reading. Yeesh. Get over yourself.)
The Bluest Eye written by Toni Morrison
(It would be easier to say you should read EVERYTHING by this outstanding author.)
Take a glance and my meager offerings, and know that additons are forthcoming, as always....
