To our jobs. 3. To our friends. 4. And...to our God. II. Body. A. There were those in the Lord's day who were not committed. 1. The rich ruler: Luke 18:22-23. 2. Those with excuses: a. Bury my father: Luke 9:59. b. Bid farewell: Luke 9:61. c. Convenience: Acts 24:25. 3. Demas: II Timothy 4:10. B. The Lord wants us committed to His way. 1. Matthew followed him: Matthew 9:9. 2. Levi followed him: Luke 5:27. 3. Stephen: Acts 7:59. 4. Priscilla and Aquilla: Romans 16:3-4. 5. Timothy: Philippians 2:19-20. 6. Phoebe: Romans 16:1-2. 7. Shall we mention: Barnabas, Titus, Lydia, Dorcas, Typchicus and Apollos? 8. Even Saul of Tarsus changed his commitment. C. There is a price to be paid for commitment: Matthew 8:19-20. 1. When suffering: I Peter 4:19. 6. Hence, have this attitude: Matthew 8:19. D. Christians are to be committed to: 1. Living a righteous life & setting an example. 2. Supporting and encouraging one's family. 3. Studying and growing in the faith. 4. Assisting those in need. 5. Supporting the work of the Lord and activities of His church. 6. Putting the Lord, His work, and His kingdom first in one's life! III. Conclusion. A. Is my commitment to the Lord stronger than what I commit to my own life, my family, my occupation, my friends, and to all of the pursuits of this life? B. Read Ephesians 6:10-13.-jy
