Trip Through The Bible

Lesson Ten: The Rewards From God

When Jesus left the earth, he assured his disciples that he would return. What will take place at the return of the Lord is already planned and outlined in the scriptures. Many speculations of men have been presented as to what will occur. All but one, what the Bible teaches, are without any foundation whatsoever. The truth is that the Lord will never put his foot on the earth again for the righteous will meet him in the air(I Thessalonians 4:17). In this final lesson, we will study the events of the end of time and the rewards from God.

The Return of Christ

Jesus Christ will return to judge the world(Matthew 25:31-32). All men of every age will stand in his presence and give an account of one's behavior while upon the earth. At this time, the Lord will separate the righteous from the unrighteous. Each will acknowledge that he is the Son of God(Philippians 2:9-11). Christ will not establish an earthly kingdom(John 18:36). Even Satan will receive his reward(punishment), being cast into the "lake of fire and brimstone"(Revelation 20:10). The righteous will receive the blessing from the King of Kings(Matthew 25:34). The great judge of mankind will make no mistakes as he separates the righteous from the wicked.

The Reward for the Righteous

Earthly relationships, as well as the affections so connected, shall be abolished at Christ's appearance. The state of the righteous after the Lord's coming will be such a blessing that nothing on earth can be compared to it.

Those who die in Christ will be made alive(I Corinthians 15:22). They will experience the victory over the grave(I Corinthians 15:55-57). All suffering, pain, sorrows, and all unpleasantries of this life will be taken away(Revelation 21:4). These faithful ones will be in eternity with Christ and the saved of all ages(I Thessalonians 4:17). A place in heaven is reserved for all of those who are faithful to God and His word(I Peter 1:4).

The End of Wickedness

The scriptures clearly teach the fate of those who displease God. When one becomes aware of the consequences of wickedness, he should gladly obey the God of Heaven. To live in sin should cause one to live in fear of the day when the Lord returns. Nothing good, or happy, awaits them. Anyone in such a condition should shudder at the impending doom.

The consequences of an evil life is the everlasting fire of Hell(Matthew 25:41). Such workers of iniquity will will be told to "depart from me, ye that work iniquity"(Matthew 7:21-23). Hell was prepared for the Devil and his angels. Man, by following Satan, will suffer punishment in eternity for making such a choice.

The Time to Prepare

Knowing the wrath of God and the end of wickedness, every person should make ample preparation before death. At the point of death, one's destiny is sealed forever. Those who live in sin should live in fear of the day that the Lord returns. Nothing good, or happy, awaits them. Anyone in such a condition should shudder at his/her fate.

For the righteous obedient, there is a place of rest and peace. A place where there is no corruption, no defilement, and that does not end(I Peter 1:4). It is up to each person to make the choice as to where they will be in eternity. We urge you to make the right choice.
