Before the 1999 Texas Scottish Festival, I knew Seven Nations only by name, but I had never heard their music and knew very little about them. Then Sunday night of the festival I saw them perform, and suddenly I understood what all the fuss was about. They were amazing. I bought two CDs on the spot. A year later at the 2000 games they were there again. I couldn't wait to see them, but what I saw was actually better as it was totally impromptu and an experience that I probably won't get to have again. Below is a picture of the session:

All the tents except one got rained out, and so members of Seven Nations, the Killdares, and the Blarney Brothers all had an impromptu jam session, with the rest of us sitting practically in the circle with them.

From where I was sitting, I was able to get a lot of good pictures. On the left is a picture of Dan I took when he was just standing around taking.

On the right is a picture from the session of Dan and Kirk. The even cooler thing about these two pictures is that three days after the games my boyfriend and I drove up to Tulsa to see them in a benifit concert, and we got Dan and Kirk to sign copies of the pictures. As well, I got the picture below and more of the concert itself.

This was the Oklahoma Scottish (or Scotish as they spelled it) Games benifit concert in Tulsa. Tulsa is a scary place. But 7N was, of course, amazing. Aren't they always?
