The Shire of Dun Ard and our allies needs your help with
The Ransom Of Leyland November 7th AS XXXIII
Last year the fair and delicate Lady Leyland OLee was kidnapped by forces not of this kingdom. Now they threaten to return her to us after having discovered what we have known for some time. To settle this dispute a full day of Fighting, Archery, Arts and Sciences Competitions and more have been scheduled. FIGHTING will consist of Melees, assorted tourneys, as well as a Bridge Battle, and finally a Fortress Battle. ARCHERY will consist of a Grinder a Reed Shoot, and a Clout Shoot, plus a few surprises. A & S Competition will be a make from scratch, on site project of your choice which must be worked on for at least 4 hours on site. Warp your looms, prepare your medium, and mix your pigments prior to arrival. You will be judged not on the quantity done but the quality. Childrens Activities will consist of a Quest to determine a childrens war point. Finally, Brewers and Vintners bring your best, and plenty of it. The winning armies of the Fighters, Archers, and Artisans will ALL be your judges. The evenings feast will consist of roasted beast and vegetables; simple but filling. Feast will be limited to first 100 people to sign up, advance registration is encouraged. Following feast there will be Bardic performances, singing and dancing until the wee small hours. As in past years, the event will be held at the Hunt Lodge on Fort Leavenworth. Take your best route to Fort Leavenworth. Take Grant Ave North to the first light and turn left. This road (Kansas Ave) will dead end on Hancock Ave. Turn right and go about 1/2 mile then double back to your left. Immediately bear to your right onto Sheridan up the hill following the twist and turns. Watch for the brown sign pointing you to go left to the Hunt Lodge. Site fee is $3 and feast is $5. There will also be an inn on site for lunch. Make checks payable to SCA Inc., Shire of Dun Ard. For those needing more detailed directions to the Hunt Lodge contact the Autocrat. A map will appear on this site in a few days.
