The Value of Solitude

by Steven J. D. Bean

1. It is not always bad to be alone.

2. You don't have to be afraid of being alone.

3. Sometimes, however, it is good to be afraid.

4. Sometimes you can learn more from yourself than you can learn from the wisest teachers.

5. If you are loved, you can never truelly be alone, even when you are by yourself.

6. Sometimes you have to be alone to appreciate others.

7. Sometimes you have to be alone to tollerate others.

8. Being alone doesn't always mean you are on your own, someone will always be there for you if you let them, even if that someone is yourself.

9. You can be alone in the company of others, you may not even realize it.

10. You can learn much from the experiences of others but you can never experience their experiences.

11. You are always alone.

12. Being alone is not necessarily lonely, lonliness is not necessarily being alone.

13. Never argue with yourself when you are alone, sit down and talk it out like an adult.

14. When you find yourself alone it is rarely an accident, use this time wisely.

15. When you find yourself alone - find yourself - it will help you recognize yourself the next time you get lost in a crowd.
