Integral practice
In "One Taste" p.129-131, Ken Wilber outlines an example of an
"integral practice" (all quadrants) and makes the point that
"anyone can put together their own integral practice."
Encouraged by that i tried to put together my own list, some of
which is real and some futuristic (F).
Upper Right - Exterior-Individual (Behavioural):
- diet (veggy, natural foods, (F) abstinence from cakes, junk
food etc., (F) Ayurvedic or similar)
- abstinence from tobacco (including second-hand smoke), alcohol and drugs
- avoidance of unnecessary medication
- avoidance of unnecessary mutilations
- (F) daily physical exercise
Upper Left - Interior-Individual (Intentional):
- study
- self-knowledge
- growth towards self-realization
- adopting a conscious philosophy of life
- visualization
- affirmations
- preference of quality
communications (discussion, information, serious music)
over damaging ones (TV soaps and commercials, gutter
press, trivial entertainment)
- (F) therapy/practice
Lower Right - Exterior-Collective (Social):
- dedicated action in the community
- being environmentally conscious
- being modest with the earth's resources (no
driving or flying if there is a good alternative)
Lower Left - Interior-Collective (Cultural):
- communion with, respect and support for sentient beings
(in degree according to level of sentience and the
closeness of the relationship)
- avoiding prejudice against ethnic and social groups
- avoiding abuse of the animal kingdom including animal shows
- ethics
- compassion
- (F) integral relating à la Welwood
