In HK to teach SVA with Amanda. HK is quieter than I remember last time. I've had a bit of a sore throat and stomach bug, so I am leaving the frenetic sightseeing to Sarah. HK is remarkable for its lack of suburbia. Its all urbia; where the big apartment blocks end the scrubby bush begins.

Saw a couple of movies on the weekend - Never Been Kissed (not bad, but disappointingly the characters were not as 3 dimensional as in Clueless) and the South Park movie. South Park was great. Saw it with Yvette and Jordan who also loved it. Got Jordan a ego Snowspeeder for his BD, and joined them for a rainy breakfast in Centennial Park. Took delivery of our tiles and did the first lot. They look OK, but I'm more looking forward to the grouting. Did some more C-Bridge training today. I am still getting my head around it. I think it might help us a lot in the custom internet space but need a adaptation for packaged implementation and BI+W etc.

A couple of interesting days learning Oracle 1to1. The PRG stuff is better than the Oracle stuff. Went out last night with the team, had croc salad (excellent - tasted like a nice version of lamb's fry), prawns and Orlando Cabernet Shiraz Merlot.

The approval for our renovations finally arrived. Hooray! Had a nice night out at Ross & Chris's, but broke the washing machine. Win some, lose some. Just about to rush off to the 1to1 training. Should be interesting....

Things have now quietened down at both ML and LL, so now I have some more time to concentrate on BC. Next week is 1to1. We re-arranged the middle room on the weekend. It now has the computer and all the hi fi in it. We saw "As you like it" at Belvoir with Kylie, Nigel, Louise and Ian. It was OK rather than brilliant. Only one or two of the actors really stood out - lucky we only paid $18 rather than $36 for each ticket.

Just coming to the end of the latest Workflow internal course. People seem to be enjoying it. I would be too if I didn't have a horrible earache.

What a weekend. Please forgive me for going on about it, but Sydney in Winter? Amazing. Saturday 7:45pm, Darling Harbour. We sit by the water at the just under Laurie's freeway, listening to the Australian Chamber Orchestra playing some anodine baroque pi ce or another from a barge in front of Pyrmont bridge. Its warm enough for me to be comfortable in jeans, tshirt, top and leather jacket, no gloves, no overcoat. In the background I can see the old submarine, lighthouse and destoyer at the Maritime Museum, the old Manly ferry as a restaurant, and the monorail crossing the bridge. The fireworks start. It seems like any excuse will do for Sydney to put on a bit of a show. They are pretty good, and from this distance the block out the boring music. Its the eve of the end of the century and I LIKE it! We walk home, past the casino, the old terraces, the fishbowl apartments (but no one's doing anything interesting). Louise and I argue about who will use the toilet first - it is a BIT cold. The power station is floodlit tonight. Maybe they are filming th re. I don't know why they would on a Saturday night though. We get home, Sarah & I tidy up a bit. We start dinner - its coriander and beef fajitas, which we picked up from the Coles Metro under the newly remodelled Amex building before the concert. Why _do_ they wear those berets? Louise loves the Morcheeba disk I put on. We discuss music. I feel like I did in '78 when the New Wave was coming out and you could get into something apart from punk. I feel like the music coming in suits me. And if the music coming in suits me, then may e the whole zeitgeist (spelling?) will as well. The next morning I discover that all that coffee i drank at yesterday's coffee festival didn't agree with me (a coffee hangover!) and I have to sleep in til midday. We get up and wander down to the Rozelle markets. They are excellent, like the Glebe marke s were before they lost the 2nd hand record stores. I get a few kilos of Lego, and Sarah gets a miniature rose and some old sky blue wedgewood plates, cups etc.

Started my new job last week. Its starting off pretty quietly - doing business plans etc. The one-to-one stuff is interesting, but I'm finding it a bit alarming now that the fact I will have no clients is sinking in.

The Spanish restaurant went well, although the special stew was enjoyed more by the English people than anyone else. Brian brought along Sam, and he seemed happier than I've seen him for months. Been working on setting up Lend Lease and Merrill Lynch, plu talking to Amanda and Rodney about service lines. Considering buying the house next door - looks like the marketing of the house has been pretty half hearted, so we may get a good price on it.

More rain. Better check the roof tonight. Taught Workflow to ML using the Singapore box. Went well. Kylie still hasn't decided on the new job, and Sarah is busy doing her skills inventory for her new job search. Organising the Spanish Restaurant for Satur ay.
