Whole class activity -
Carousel sharing of posters and graphics. Group member explains concepts to visiting groups. Visiting groups use active listening and are encouraged to ask questions and make constructive comments (not criticisms - we want to create a classroom environment with absence of threat).
Directed instruction -
Students review major ideas in assigned readings. Be prepared to explain similarities and differences among the four essays covered so far.
Individual assignment -
Students will create a mind map of the major concepts presented in the essays. Mind map assignment worth 25 points. Due Thursday at the beginning of the period.
Homework -
Read Chapters 1 and 2 (pp. 1-17) in Clive Ponting’s A Green History of the World for class tomorrow.
