Too many children die too young,
A sacrifice to the streets.
How sad we say,
As our own heart beats.
Every minute another lay dying.
Once again a sad mother is crying.
Where did they go wrong?
They tried so hard to raise them right,
But the street played a tempting song,
The friends who swore they'd never leave,
Flee at the scene with blood on their sleeve.
The drugs, they say, nip at your toes.
And soon the hunger grows and grows.
For just one pinch, they'd sell their soul,
And finally it takes it's toll.
Too lazy to stay in school.
They try so hard to be so cool.
Never learned the golden rule.
Too little too late,
At the pearly gate.
Never made it to the prom.
Just realized he should have listened to mom.
What a pitty,
What a shame.
Another lost soul for the streets to claim.
