Just to disappear
Poof! The magic show begins.
One minute I am here, the next I am there
What am I running from?
In comes the ring master,
Whip in hand.
The sharp, stinging whip, the black, vicious whip
Short, hot pains throb as I am forced to move on.
On to the clowns,
The clowns, those happy clowns.
Mocking every step I take,
Teasing my intricacies.
Way up high,
To the tightrope I go.
The sea of faces between the thin wire.
Pray, I do not fall
Once in awhile,
There is a cannonball.
It propels my body against the yellow striped tent.
Everything disappears at the speed of light.
Popcorn! Soda! Cotton candy!
The vendor man's voice rings,
Sometimes he seems as the only normal person there.
The rest a web of mishaps.
After all the animals and stunts and glitter,
It is finally over.
I am dizzy tired as I stumble out of the dome.
Mothers grab the hands of sticky children.
The straw-filled aroma leaves,
As we shuffle out like a herd.
Over, the whirlwind of emotions,
But not a moment to soon.
