Shadowed Garden

by Ashley Marshall (14)

Crickets chirp, leaves rustle
the moon peeks through the trees
Dark thoughts surround me
like black monsters that lie in ambush
Run, run fast from these demons
that torment me at every turn
I've got to break free
from this cage that binds me
Away from lies and accusations
Far from the nets and traps that ensnare me
to my distant, safe haven
in a garden with no shadows.
