I have waited for this moment,
for a lifetime.
Anticipating. Pacing,
back and forth
through the green hallways.
The bright light magnifies,
minuscule details.
The virus jabs through the corridors,
Grabbing up senseless victims.
People crave it,
like a powerful drug,
using it to escape the wrath of death.
Into the wards they go,
out of the wards the come.
Sewn on hearts, mouths, lungs
attached the their virus-infected skin.
Too bad the virus doesn't touch their souls.
Walking down the foul halls
the smells of vomit, piss and bleach
and sounds of screams and curses fill the air.
Their reluctance to go in,
My unwillingness to come out.
People would die for the virus,
While I'd rather just die.
