Not Love

by Dennis Donovan (16)

Lips so soft, eyes so mesmerizing,
that’s not love.
Legs so shapely, smile so bright,
that’s not love.
Fantasizing, wishing, wondering,
that’s not love.
Love does not begin in a split second,
despite proverbs of old, but
infatuation is a first sight result.
That is a solitary idea, not mutual.
Love isn’t one-sided though,
but shared between two people
driven by Passion and guided by Honesty,
while Forgiveness lights the way.
