My Heart Pounds in Its Cavity

by Dennis Donovan (16)

My heart pounds in its cavity
as I behold her ethereal body.
Those long legs, so smooth and tan,
those blazing eyes, making stars look dim,
those luscious lips, as soft and deep as roses.
The godly image I see before me
relinquishes me from the gloomy catacombs
I once resided.
Illusions of intimacy are no longer false,
mirages becoming reality.
My dolefulness is erased by the song
of her beautiful voice,
responding to my invitation.
