Just Some Scribblings

by Kathy Hrycyna (16)

Like oil does vinegar
So do we
Dance around the problem
We are like clouds in the sky
Happy where we are
Moved when needed
Never noticing how high we reach
And how far we fall
Fog
Never touching the dirt
But close enough to taste the soil
And kiss the dew
But we don't fall that far
Too proud to admit defeat
So we vaporize in the morning sun
Too proud to admit defeat
We'd rather turn to mist than to touch the ground
Rather rise again in a different form
Than to lay down on the earth and have to build back up confidence...
Never having roots
But branches... my God do we have branches
That reach to the heavens
To the far ends of the earth
To touch lives and hearts and loves
Never grounded
But always planted firm
Never straying
But always ahead of the flock
Liquid tongues that turn to ice
Between ruby red lips
And snow flake patchwork skin
Always floating but never free
A soul at work but never at ease
Ice queens and their anterage
With out stretched tenticles
Touching everyone
But never being touched
