Heartbroken

by Michelle Bricker (14)

I fly on wings of daydreams
to a world where live with you
I feel your arms around me
and summer breezes, cool,
my size
my hair
doesn't matter
but it never did to you
but in this world you love me too
I'm not "just a friend"
I sigh a little sigh to myself
knowing it must end
I cannot be tortured much longer
by the barbed wires of fear
courage will heal my wounds
and your beautiful voice will fill my ears
but until then
I'm left holding
the raw ends of my heart
