Golden Hinges

by Julie Dinger (16)

Excuse me, I'm looking for my love,
is this the wrong direction?
a brief period of morning and it was 100 degrees by noon.
I break a sweat sitting here looking at you.
I rambled to you all of my life.
Where did you go?
You smiled, blushed and nodded you approval.
Now I sit and wait for you to come back to me.
I smile and you smile,
we don't speak of our problems now.
I would be nagging, you would be annoying.
But when we kiss I can see your insides,
rust only coats the frame, and I see golden hinges.
Kisses aren't out of fury but routine.
You broke the routine today.
I miss the consistency.
Kiss me when you think no one can see.
Take me back to my front seat.
If I go back far enough in my mind I reach our end.
Forever is so brief,
just enough time to create a game and then break your own rules.
