Black and Blue

by Libby Brunton (13)

Whatever love is,
Call it what you want,
I know when I feel it,
And it's come back to haunt,
My soul and spirit,
But most of all my heart.
And it hurts so bad,
It's ripping me apart.
Although you may not know it,
You kill me a little everyday.
With your smile and sparkle,
And flirty little way.
Please stop,
Stop playing this game.
Leave me alone,
Quit calling my name.
I'm not a doll,
You can't play with me,
Wish I had the courage
To make you let me be.
Why won't love leave,
Just leave me alone.
It's rotting me away,
Right down to the bone.
This love that I have,
Deep inside,
There's too much of it,
It needs to divide
Itself in two.
Some for me,
And what's left over,
Well, it's for you.
Please just take it,
Don't turn away.
Please just take it,
Don't ruin another day.
Open your eyes,
Can't you see that I'm here?
Here for you,
I'll always be near.
So love me the same,
The way I love you.
Don't leave me alone
With my heart black and blue
