Lacy overhangings and wooden slots,
Plastic leaves and brass lights,
A distinctive odour lightly wafts throughout
And I suppose the liquor cabinet
Is always empty from use.
Attempt to achieve a certain elegance
Are banished by obtrusive tackiness.
Though I must say this house intrigues me so.
It shines off this aura of something --
Something inexplicable but mysterious,
Something well-known but invisible.
This house hold brief memories,
And I know I could never remember
How to get there because of the briefness spent.
But there is something there I love, something I want.
This glow given off by the walls
Maybe that is not it, but something.
Something that makes me want to stay,
To live there and indulge in the mystery.
The mystery of the atmosphere, the house.
