A Life Lost

by Dennis Donovan (16)

A sword punctures the heart,
leaving the man entangled in his thoughts.
Is the burning desire there? Only one side,
for the other has gone astray.
In disbelief, the man is left bleeding,
his zealous emotions losing their cause,
his mind forgetting the yearning he once had.
But... maybe it's better for him to die,
for he can move on and conjure up new fantasies.
He'll never forget, however, his newly past-life,
for there were some memories too strong to forget.
