A Candle Burns as My Love for You Dies

by Kristin Lori (16)

I'm sitting here in this trashy old place,
staring at the flame of a candle.
It stares back at me.
That's when I realize,
that I'm just wasting time again.
So slowly, the days are going by
since I've last seen you passing by.
Just like this candle I stared at you.
Knowing that things weren't going to get better.
I miss you so much, is that so hard to see?
I miss talking to the person I most adore.
Sitting here all alone while they're all calling me a whore.
I miss going out to see you.
But I better watch out what I'm wishing for.
Who am I fooling?
Things will never get better.
Love hates me, so why do I mess with it?
I sit here crying, watching the candle burn.
I sob even more, Oh great, I'm putting it out.
This candle seems to know just what I'm supposed to do.
I cry even more just thinking of how things could be.
I cry harder wishing things went the way I wanted them to.
And as I keep crying,
I burn this unscented pink candle out.
Kind of like me and you.
It's gone, all that's left is the memories of what once was there.
Everything goes away only for awhile.
then I get my ass up and realize that it's all over between me and you.
The candle is dead just like my feelings for you.
