This wooden figure of the Black Madonna of
Montserrat in the presence of The Holy Trinity, was probably carved in the eleventh
century. It is found at in the Benedictine Abbey Church in the mountains above the Catalan
plains. This abbey, founded in 1030, was the site of Igantius' prayer vigil on the night
of March 24, 1522. It was here that he left his weapons of war at his departure.
