Listing of Traditional Latin Masses Which Have Been Approved Under Papal Authority.

-- REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA --

There are no traditional latin masses reported in the country. However, there is an apostolic exarchate at Sofia (the capital city) for the Bulgarian Byzantine Rite. The Vicariate was not suppressed during the period of communist rule as in many other former communist country. Having only about 15,000 subjects, it was not considered a threat to the corresponding Orthodox Church in the country. Churches and chapels of the Rite can be found at Sofia and Plovdiv (the two most populous cities) and at several towns along the south-western border with Greece.
