Aromatherapy
My interest in aromatherapy came out of desperation: I've suffered from debilitating migraine headaches since childhood. Only one thing eased the pain, yet it's a bit hard to have a life while zonked on codeine.
(If only I had known that simply inhaling the scent of essential oil of lavender would stop a migraine in minutes!)
A noxious odor can make one nauseous, aromas can induce hunger, certain scents remind us of childhood- why should it be such a shock that they can also affect how we feel?
It isn't necessary to purchase fancy diffusers, or expensive candles called "Passion" or "Energy." A drop or two of essential oil on a cool light bulb will be enough to scent a room, when the lamp is turned on. The oils (available at health food stores) are pricey, but a vial lasts forever.
