In looking at the Oct. 14 headline on The Cincinnati Enquirer’s front page "Court lets stand law denying gay protection," and in remembering the shocking news of the death of the young, gay student beaten comatose in Colorado, I found it an ironic juxtaposition.
How many of Cincinnati’s 62 percent who voted in 1993 in favor of this measure saw any connections? How many felt a twinge of conscience, possibly remorse over their choice back then?
For five years, I have been hoping that the Supreme Court would "right the wrong."

Now, I’m back to hoping and praying that the voters will soon have another opportunity to re-think the issue at the ballot box.
Gays have never asked for "special rights," that is only a smokescreen. They ask only, and should be given, equal rights and protection.
