Professional Experience   University of Illinois: Urbana-Champaign, IL. Teaching Assistant. August, 2000 - Present. Taught in the Academic Writing Program. Developed course syllabi, reading lists, assignments, grading criteria, and web sites. Also responsible for conducting one-on-one tutoring with students.
     

 

Riverside Community College District: Riverside, CA. English Adjunct. December, 1999 - June, 2000. Taught various levels of English Composition using a rhetorical approach. Developed course syllabi, reading lists, assignments, grading criteria, and web sites.

Kaiser Permanente, National Clinical Systems: Pasadena, CA. Senior Business Analyst. December, 1998 - Present. Developed training curriculum for new and updated software and conducted training sessions. Analyzed, programmed, and implemented various software packages on both client-server and mainframe platforms. Lead the effort to develop a Web-based patient tracking system for the emergency room.

California State University, Hayward: Hayward, CA. Teaching Assistant. March, 1997 - June, 1998. Taught several levels of composition over four quarters, including one section taught using Academic Systems' Interactive English software. Developed course syllabi, reading lists, assignments, grading criteria, and web pages. Taught two sections in which the students were required to develop an HTML document as their final project.

California State University, Hayward: Hayward, CA. Graduate Writing Associate. April, 1996 - March, 1997. Worked with professors in Statistics, Sciences, and Film to develop writing intensive course sections. Work included preparing and presenting writing topics appropriate to the discipline during class time, one-on-one mentoring with students, evaluation of student writing, and grading.

Kaiser Permanente, Clinical Systems, California Division: Walnut Creek, CA. Implementation Project Manager. March, 1998 - December, 1998. Responsible for implementing new software throughout the division. Lead multiple projects that were accomplished on time and within budget. Projects included Java-based, Web-enabled software, as well as client-server, and mainframe systems.

Kaiser Permanente, Clinical Systems, California Division: Walnut Creek, CA. Senior Technical Writer. July, 1997 - March, 1998. Worked with divisional Vice President to develop an in-house "University." Developed and taught courses and curriculum to address employees' continuing education and training needs at the "University." Courses taught included web design and business and technical writing. Developed and maintained intranet Web pages for the division, as well as for individual doctors. Worked with multiple California projects to determine documentation needs.

Science Applications International Corporation: Walnut Creek, CA. Senior Technical Writer. November, 1995 - July, 1997. Worked on the proposal team to write business proposals for local, national, and international clients. Wrote and edited divisional newsletter. Edited documentation written by colleagues. Wrote training materials for proprietary software. Wrote and designed Power Point presentations for divisional management. Wrote and tested system documentation for proprietary software.

Castle Rock Consulting Group: Concord, CA. Lead Technical Writer. July, 1994 - November, 1995. Led the Technical Documentation Team at CRCG. Wrote a 400+ page policy, procedure and training manual for a northern California medical foundation. Developed and wrote additional documentation detailing various medical foundations' computer system customizations. Wrote 30+ page user manuals for customers purchasing CRCG propriety software.
