Arensnuphis

Also in the dream was a God unknown to me at the time, also in two forms: that of a Polynesian-looking man with tall feathers on His head; and that of a beautiful male lion, who did not approach me, but lay down in the grass some distance off. When I was researching this dream, I came across an entry in the Encyclopedia Mythica which amazed me. It says,

"Arensnuphis

A benign god of Egyptian Nubia. He had a temple at Philae, where he was referred to as the companion of Isis, the chief local deity. He is depicted in the form of a lion, or as a man wearing a plumed crown.

This is when I began to realise that Gods are not just human- made archetypes but active beings, frequently making Themselves known to those ready to recognise Them.
Since then I have had contact with Dionysus (in more ways than one ;-), chatted with Hermes and Thoth, & been politely tapped on the shoulder by Apollo. This surprised me, since I tend to be more Goddess-oriented and womyn-focused. But I guess it's just Their way of getting my attention!

If anyone out there knows more about Arens, I would love to hear from you, either by email or in my guestbook!
