Objective: To summarize and present information related to the nonfiction selections "Hair," "It Can't Be Helped," and "By Any Other Name"
Assignment:
Choose one of the following topics to research using the media center and other outside resources
(including internet). Please highlight or circle your choice.
Prepare a three paragraph mini-essay of the information found. Structure of mini-essay -
introduction (2 sentences min.), body (topic sentence, support, concluding sentence -5 sentences
min.), conclusion (application of information to story studied - 3 sentences min.).
On the same paper as the summary, write the appropriate Works Consulted entry. (See MLA handout).
Prepare a three minute presentation of your topic with a 10th-grade-level visual. (It will be timed.)
Topics: These topics are divided by story. You are only to choose one out of all of these selections.
