Sunshine #5

You float serenely
half a world away,
yet have become
my smiling angel,
freeing the frightened boy
forever locked within me.

Warm lovely eyes
that have finally pierced
through the timeless glacier forged
around my ever-aching heart.

Your broad smile wrapped
snugly around my soul,
protecting me
on the cold lonely
nights when half is
apart from the whole.

Golden electric flesh,
whose sanguine spice nightly
carries me off to distant tropical
slumber, as I'm tightly woven
within your taut and graceful wings.

Careless golden strands
of fresh-woven silk framing
your breathtaking beauty
call to me, begging my caress,
as if they were the very
strings connecting
your heart with mine.

Smiles that you give as
fresh wild spring grass,
following a lifetime of lonely nights
filled with barren arctic longing.

Carefree laughter that
disarmed and captured my wary heart
that very first night I heard it;
the night we wouldn't say goodbye.

Deep and heavy sighs I feel
whenever I find my mind drifting away
from me as I've finally been cast into
the current now drawing us together.

Breathing you into my heart;
in with the good, out with the bad,
your fire continues to fill me, rebuild me
as I'm reborn with you at each sunrise.
