Your Answer is Correct!

It DOES look like a wedding cake!

The Victor Emmanuel Monument in downtown Rome has the Italian military's Tomb of the Uknown Soldier. English tourists in the 1920's referred to the monument as the "Wedding Cake" because of its appearance. It celebrates the unification of Italy in 1870 with its capital in Rome. Unfortunately, to build the monument, many priceless archeological treasures were destroyed (the Roman Forum is located immediately behind the structure).

Personally, I do not like this monument. Not only did its construction destroy countless artifacts, but its whitewashed appearance is totally out of place with the honey-colored hues of the city around it. This bleached building is an asthetic eye-sore. Do you know where you will find the BEST view of the city of Rome? The absolute best view of Rome is from the roof of this building, because from there you do not see this building!

Way to Go!
