APOLLO  13
Hi  our  names are  Guillermo  and  Israel.
We  picked  the topic about the explosion and  we picked  this topic  because  we  think  that the explosion  was interesting  how  they survived  the explosion. If you want to know  more about this  topic  read  our  article.

     Launched
Apollo 13  was launched on April 11, 1970  many  people thought that  number  13 is  bad luck  but Apollo  13 was  good  luck.  When Apollo  13 launched  they  were  going  12,000  miles  per  hour. Apollo  13 launched at 2:13  pm east 39 At Kennedy  Space  Center.

     Missions
Apollo 13 had  5  missions, one of the Apollo 13 missions  was to  go and land in the moon. Mission number 2  was  to  make a really  powerful  camera from the size of a basketball that  weigh 200 pounds, to  observe the  planet earth from 203,000 miles  from earth. Mission number ,the area  we’re the cryogenic  tank was covering the bay 4.Mission number 4, they  had 138 hours  to observe  and  photograph  the bay 4. But  they couldn't because it was damaged ,     Apollo 13   was  to  provide  oxygen and produce  water.

     Explosion
Apollo  13  had an explosion on  the space craft. Apollo  13  lost  contact with  the United  States  for  28  minutes.  Apollo 13  got power  down   to get oxygen  because  they only  had 6.5  pounds  of  oxygen in  total of  space craft. With the explosion the fan wires shorted and  the Teflon caught  fire.  The fire  spread all  over  the wires and that caused the oxygen #2 to blow up.

Coming back

Before  Apollo 13  landed they slept for 6  hours.  When  they were  sleeping  up  in space it  got 35  or 40 degrees Fahrenheit.  Apollo  13  splashed  down in  the  pacific  ocean  on  April 17, 1970.  The  first  thing   they  did  when  they  came  down  was  talk  to  their  families.  As long as the tanks would work they will come back to earth.  The bay -4 remained healthy, they had a good chance of getting home safely .  The odds  seemed really good.
