Hi there, and welcome to the official website for the parish of Draycott-en-le-Moors.
Our community is situated in the county of Staffordshire, in England, part of the United Kingdom and the European Union. We are not a large community, approximately only 1,000 parishioners in all, but we have lots to offer and interest visitors. Our parish has a very rich and varied history, including roman roads, Norman Manors, Civil War skirmishes, religious tensions between Catholics and Protestants, Colour Mills, Tape Weaving and strange murders! That's all in the past now of course, and our parish is now a happy and thriving community, but on this site you can discover all about our heritage. We have pages dedicated to all aspects of parish life, both today and in yesteryear, so please browse on through, and don't forget to sign the guestbook.
A few words of warning however. Firstly, this site is too extensive to really explore in one visit, (unless you've got all day), so we suggest that you bookmark us and return at a later date.
Also, we also realise that some of you may have surfed in on the name "Draycott" alone, and this page may not contain the information that you're after. If this is the case, , which gives references to other Draycott facts unrelated to our parish. It may well contain what you're after!
We also appreciate that we have a lot of foreign visitors, so if English is not your native language, please try this page for Non-English speakers.
Our names are Matt and Barry and we are the webmasters for the site. However, we want people to know that this site is intended for the WHOLE PARISH. We have had loads of help from interested individuals, both local and from further afield. Please, please, if you have anything to contribute regarding any aspect of village life, contact us. All articles or offers of help considered. Our e-mail addresses are as follows:-
Matt: mattpointon@yahoo.com
Barry: bazo1@tesco.net
Alas, due to other commitments, notably me residing in Vietnam, (which bars access to all GeoCities sites and Barry having grandchildren to take care of, we have not updated this site for some time. However, we will endeavour to add new stuff from time to time and keep it going and new information is always welcome.
You may have noticed that this page is dedicated to Andrew Pointon, who was instrumental in the establishment and promotion of this site, especially regarding the communitity aspect. For those who wish to read a little more on his contribution, please view his obituary.
